This is how Yiv Cortez described herself as she sat down and had a heart-to-heart talk with VIYLine Media Group.
Humble, shy, and adventurous.
Wearing denim shorts and a navy blue jacket, the 18-year-old lady was indeed modest and shy at first. But behind her prescription glasses and teenage dental braces is an undoubtedly humble young woman with a heart and mind full of wisdom.
Yiv recently opened up about her dreams, wishes, and undying love and gratefulness for her family.
As you may all know, Yiv is the youngest sister of renowned YouTube content creator Viy Cortez. She is a graduating senior high school student who plans to take up a Bachelor of Science in Criminology course in college.
“Madalas kasi kami manood ni mama ng mga investigative documentary, parang nagustuhan ko po sya,” Yiv explained, adding that she wishes to work for the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) someday.
But apart from becoming Detective Yiv, our debutante also dreams of following the footsteps of her Ate Viy to becoming a successful businesswoman if given a chance.
Our darling debutante is also an academic achiever, who is set to receive a special award next month as she graduates with flying colors.
Yiv is the 3rd daughter of Mr. Rolando and Mrs. Imelda Cortez. Their eldest is Miss Ivy, a vlogger, and manager of Tea Talk Franchised by Viy Cortez.
According to Mr. Cortez’s published “Philippine Names Puzzles 1,” he believed that God planned to jumble her daughters’ names using only three letters. This uniqueness could qualify them as candidates for the Guinness Book of World Records.
The TEENS by VIYLine Skincare ambassadress has a long list of wishes for her 18th birthday, and she revealed one to us.
That is to be able to witness the all-girl KPop group Twice perform live, in short, attend their concert. While Yiv Cortez could quickly request this from her Ate Viy, our independent woman said she has been saving up her own money to turn this dream into reality.
Yiv said that Twice has helped ease her boredom at the height of the pandemic. The music of the KPop group also served as her “coping mechanism” when stressed from schoolwork.
When VMG asked what is she looking forward to the most as she turns 18, our debutante quipped: “Yung mas papayagan na kong gumala (laughs). Kasi may mga time na hindi talaga ako papayagan kasi minor pa, pero ngayon siguro baka pwede na akong payagan. Baka naman!”
According to Yiv, her family, especially her parents, is her source of strength and motivation.
“Kaya ko po ginagawa yung mga bagay-bagay dahil sa kanila and para sa kanila,” Yiv added.
When asked if a special someone is inspiring her at the moment, the debutante confidently said: “For now wala po, kasi binasted ko!” *snap snap*
Yiv explained that while her parents restricted her from entertaining suitors, it was her personal choice to focus on her studies and prioritize her personal growth. You go, girl! #WeStanYivCortez
Yiv is about to have a spectacular 18 birthday party this afternoon. The garden-themed party is all thanks to the meticulous planning of her sisters and Viy Cortez’s executive assistant, Pat Pabingwit.
Meanwhile, our debutant could not hold back her tears as she expressed how grateful she is for her family, not just for this grandiose event, but for their love and support.
“Sa parents ko, thank you po kasi naiintindihan pala nila ako. Kasi akala ko hindi nila ako naiintindihan,” Yiv emotionally said.
“Same din kila ate Viy at ate Ivy kasi naniniwala sila sakin at thank you rin po kasi ginawa nyong posible tong birthday party ko,” she added.
Moreover, Yiv also thanked her close friends for making her happy and lifting her when she was down. Our debutante also gave a special shout-out to her supporters and thanked them for inspiring her to do better.
“Sa lahat po ng sumusuporta sa akin at sa Team Payaman, dahil po sa mga comments nyo, namomotivate pa ako lalo na gumawa ng mga videos, maging inspiration para sa inyo, para sa mga ka-edad ko at mas bata sakin. Thank you kasi yung mga comment nyo positive at dinadala ko yun para maging motivation ko.”
