Kidlat Reading at 1? Viy Cortez Reveals Secret to Son’s Early Reading Ability

Cong TV and Viy Cortez’s firstborn son Kidlat wowed the internet with his unbelievable ability to read words at such an early age.

Find out how the mommy vlogger and entrepreneur unleashed her 1-year-old son’s reading skills even before entering a formal school setting.

The power of sounds and visuals

Earlier this week, Zeus Emmanuel Velasquez, a.k.a Kidlat, made jaws drop after his YouTuber mom shared a clip of him reading.

In the TikTok video, which now has over 3.4 million views, Kidlat was seen reading words like papa, zebra, hippo, and rhino, all written on a small piece of paper.

Netizens were surprised by Kidlat’s reading ability and applauded Mommy Viy Cortez for training such a genius. However, others were skeptical about how a 1-year-old could easily recognize words.

In a separate TikTok video, the 27-year-old vlogger revealed how they introduced Kidlat to reading.

“Ang una kong tinuro kay Kidlat ay yung phonics… yung sounds, yun ang pinaka the best,” Kidlat’s baby sitter, Carmina Marasigan, a.k.a Ate Acar explained.

Viy said that they first taught Kidlat the sounds of the letters and showed visuals or pictures to help him recognize words.

She added that Kidlat’s current homeschool teacher, Teacher Mac, recommended by fellow vlogger Alex Gonzaga, also helped Kidlat to become familiarized with letters and sounds.
