Elegant, classic, and timeless – this is how legendary YouTube vlogger Cong TV envisioned his attire as he exchanged vows with her longtime partner, Viy Cortez.
This vision came to life and became even more iconic with the help of renowned Filipino fashion designer Francis Libiran.
Cong and Viy’s solemn wedding ceremony occurred on Monday, June 17, 2024, at L’Annunziata Parish in Muntinlupa City, officiated by Rev. Fr. Nelson Osorio, OSJ.
In an exclusive interview, Francis Libiran revealed how ecstatic he was when Lincoln Velasquez, a.k.a. Cong TV, approached him to do his groom’s tuxedo.
“Siyempre na-excite kasi I always watch him, I’m a fan of Cong. Siyempre natuwa ako nung nalaman ko na I’ll be designing something for him,” Libiran told VIYLine Media Group.
Cong personally hand-picked Libiran as he believes he is the best person to make his dream iconic suit come to life.
“Kasi once in a lifetime lang ‘to na event sa buhay ko, so siyempre kukunin mo yung pinakamagaling na gumagawa ng mga ganito. At hindi ako nagkamali, guys, kasi sobrang ganda!” the Team Payaman headmaster added.
The premier designer famous for his custom-made gowns and menswear said Cong TV is very collaborative in designing his tuxedo. He even made a special request to incorporate the Team Payaman logo on his wedding attire.
“Sabi ni Cong sa’kin, ‘Francis, just make it classic, but at the same time, you need to put that logo on the tuxedo.’”
The 32-year-old vlogger said he wanted to incorporate the logo during the wedding as the entire Team Payaman journey played a massive part in his relationship with Viy Cortez.
Francis Libiran admits that putting the Team Payaman logo on the groom’s tuxedo was quite challenging on his part.
“Kasi, it’s easy to just put the logo elsewhere and put beading on it… pero sabi sa’kin ni Cong gusto niya pa rin classy, so the balance of that one ‘yun yung medyo challenging.”
But he took inspiration from Cong’s humility and subtly added the iconic pesos-sign embossed embroidery logo from the shoulder to the sleeves part of the tuxedo.
“Nakita ko he’s a real person, nakita ko na he’s just like us, he’s one of us. Hindi siya formal, what you see is what you get,” Libiran said.
“‘Yun yung naging inspiration ko. I just want to design something in his personality and at the same time put that very distinct logo in that tuxedo,” he added.
Cong was pleased and satisfied with how Francis Libiran put his personal touch and tastefully added the logo to his formal wear.
“Na-incorporate niya [yung Team Payaman logo] dito sa napakagandang black na suit ko. Simple pa rin, hindi siya loud pero nandoon yung details na gusto ko.”
Meanwhile, Cong and Viy’s one-year-old son, Kidlat, wears the exact same suit design, which, according to the groom, was his bride’s idea.
