VIYLine to Champion Mental Health Awareness Through Strong Mind Foundation

VIYLine is again expanding its horizon by advocating for mental health awareness, mainly about suicide prevention, through its newly established Strong Mind Foundation Corporation (SMFC).

Through the leadership of Mr. Rolando Cortez – the General Manager of VIYLine and father of CEO Viy Cortez, Strong Mind Foundation is set to provide a transformative experience through spiritual and professional guidance.

What is Strong Mind Foundation?

Strong Mind Foundation is an initiative to help those suffering from psychological problems. It also aims to break the stigma for those people experiencing such struggles and normalize the discussion on the importance of mental health.

SMFC founder explained that his personal experiences and 25 years of research about stress, depression, and suicide drove him to push for such advocacy.

“Siguro kaya napili ko yung mental health [awareness], nanggaling yung aking advocacy from my own experiences. Because my mother committed suicide, twenty years after, my loving brother followed,” Mr. Cortez told VIYLine Media Group (VMG).

“Tayo ay nilikha, may Manlilikha at yung lumikha na yon doon nag-uugat ang paniniwala nitong Strong Mind [Foundation],” he added.

While SMFC will have a spiritual approach to combat mental health problems, Mr. Cortez emphasized that it is not a religious movement.

“This is not a religious movement, but I do believe as the Founder and the President of the Foundation, that the teachings on the sufferings of Jesus Christ in the Cross on Calvary is the source of a peaceful life on earth.”

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Mr. Rolando Cortez happily shared a photo of a Security and Exchange Commission certification showing that SMFC has been fully registered as a non-stock and non-profit corporation.

Coincidentally, he received the certification before Mental Health Awareness Month ended in January.

“Magandang pasimula upang itaguyod ko ang adbokasiyang ito na napapanahong madaling makaranas ang tao ng stress at depresyon o kaya ay mga kabalisahang hindi maunawaan kung saan nanggagaling,” Mr. Cortez wrote.

Future Projects

To fulfill its vision, the Strong Mind Foundation is preparing several projects that will be open to the public soon.

“Mayroon tayong mga planong talk show, meron tayong seminars – spiritual seminars. At yung seminar na yun ay the fruits of my 25 years of research [kung] ano ang cause ng mental heath [problem] at suicide.”

Viy’s father also invited his followers to join SMFC’s private Facebook group, where he will have “no hold barred” discussions about mental health.
