Grammy’s Global Spin Live Features SB19’s Josh Cullen Performance of ‘Yoko Na’

Josh Cullen of the legendary P-pop group SB19 raised the Filipino flag once again after his electrifying performance at the Grammy’s Global Spin.

On Friday, July 12, the Grammy’s digital performance series dropped Josh Cullen Santos’ exclusive performance of his hit single “Yoko Na.”  

Global Spin is the Recording Academy’s digital series that puts the spotlight on artists across the globe to celebrate exciting genres and talents around the world.

Hip-hop and P-pop powerhouse—this is how the international digital series introduced Josh Cullen, who represents the Philippines on the latest episode of the Global Spin series.

Josh is the second full-blooded Filipino artist featured in the Grammy’s Global Spin, next to his fellow SB19 member Ken Suson, a.k.a Felip, who performed his song “Bulan” in July 2022.  

The 30-year-old singer and songwriter performed the full band version of his song “Yoko Na,” which was initially a collaboration song with hip-hop hitmaker Al James. 

The song, released by Sony Music Entertainment in March 2024, talks about the pain of a relationship fallout.

According to Josh, “Yoko Na” does not only talk about love and relationships in general since it can also be expressed as a different way of giving up.

The lead rapper of SB19 kicked off his career as a solo artist in February 2023 after releasing his debut single, “Wild Tonight.” 

Earlier this month, the P-pop sensation also went to South Korea to represent the Philippines at the 2024 Round Festival, where he also performed a collaboration song with the K-pop girl group H1-Key.

Meanwhile, Josh Cullen took to his social media accounts to express gratitude for the said feature.

“Honored to debut on Global Spin by Grammys! Here’s my performance of ‘Yoko Na,'” Josh wrote in a Facebook post.

Minutes after the SB19 member’s feature episode was released on the Grammy Awards website and official YouTube channel, his performance became a top trending topic on X (formerly Twitter). 

The tags JOSH CULLEN GRAMMY DEBUT and #JCSonGrammysGlobalSpin landed on the 2nd and 3rd trends in the Philippines and 5th spot in the worldwide trend list. 

His fans, which he fondly calls “BBQs,” were quick to express their congratulatory messages for Josh.
