These past few weeks, Team Payaman members have been flooding our Instagram Story feeds with mouth-watering pastries that made us crave soft, yummy, and well-baked goodies.
Have you ever wondered where these delectable snacks are coming from? Well, it is freshly prepared by their fellow Team Payaman member, Abigail Campañano – Kevin Hermosada’s longtime girlfriend and soon-to-be wife.
Recently, VIYLine Media Group (VMG) got the chance to chat with Team Payaman’s rising baker and got exclusive deets on her passion project business, Ti Babi’s Kitchen.
Bake it ‘till you make it!
While most businesses emerged during the pandemic out of boredom, Abi’s passion for baking started at a very young age. It was only this year when she decided to level up her baking skills, not for business purposes but as a distraction from other pressing matters.
“Na-intensify lang siya this year 2022 nung nagkasakit yung lola ko since ako yung nag-aalaga,” Abi explained.
“So in order to control the situation and my emotions, I have to think of something to keep me sane,” she added.
Little did she know that this hobby would turn into a passion project after a couple of friends, including Team Payaman members, loved her creations.
“Three months ago, when I went to Payamansion, I brought my freshly baked Choco Moist Cake, and surprisingly, nagustuhan nilang lahat doon.”
While her creations were still not in the market then, VIYLine CEO Viy Cortez promoted the cake on social media, motivating her to turn this passion into business.
Aside from Team Payaman, her fiance, Kevin, is the one who encouraged her to venture into the pastry business.
“Nakita niya kung ano yung saya na nabibigay sakin tuwing nagbe-bake ako. Yung drive na nawala sakin before because of struggles I went through, ay nabalik dahil sa baking.”
Kevin also served as Abi’s business partner in Ti Babi’s Kitchen and their first venture, KH Co (Kevin Hermosada and Company).
Ti Babi’s Kitchen
It was only in June 2022 when Abi decided to open Ti Babi’s Kitchen and sell Cream Cheese Ensaymada on a pre-order basis.
But before we get into the salivating details of her best-selling pastries, Abi revealed to VMG the heartwarming story behind the business name.
“The word Ti Babi came from my special brother, Alvin. He used to call me Ti Babi because he had difficulty pronouncing my name. So instead of Ate Abby, he used to call me Tibabi for short.”
Currently, the pastry venture offers Abi’s signature Cream Cheese Ensaymada and Cheese Bread with Custard Filling.
Believe us when we say that delicious is an understatement for these two Ti Babi’s Kitchen specialties. Here are some of the customers’ feedback proving the same thing.
Abi revealed that they are also in the process of adding more variety of pastries to Ti Babi’s menu. They are also “cooking” for something big, which includes having a physical store where customers can easily purchase their freshly-baked products.
“In a span of 2 months, I was surprised how a lot of people liked our products. God blessed us more than we deserve. And with that being said, mas lalong nag level up ang vision namin for Ti Babi’s.”
