Junnie Boy and Vien Iligan ng Team Payaman Ibinahagi ang Pinagdaanang Operasyon ng 3-Taong-Gulang na Anak

Soon-to-wed couple Junnie Boy and Vien Iligan of Team Payaman opens up about a challenging period that their little family recently went through.

It was after their 3-year-old son, Von Maverick Velasquez a.k.a Mavi, had to undergo surgery due to undescended testicles.

In a heartwarming vlog, the YouTube content creator shared the entire journey, showcasing the bravery of Mavi during the whole process.

Mavi’s Condition

According to Mommy Vien, Mavi was diagnosed with undescended testicles when he was still a baby. Their pediatrician advised them to bring the little boy back for consultation if his testicles are still the same after two years.

Through an ultrasound scan, Junnie Boy and Vien confirmed that Mavi is still suffering the same condition.

In her recent vlog, the 25-year-old mom also advised fellow parents to be mindful of their children’s condition.

“Take note lang sa mga mommies, ‘wag nyong balewalain yung mga ganyan. Kung baby palang, yun din icheck nyo kung okay ba yung egg nya, kung nakababa ba,” Vien said.

“Kasi yung sa kanya talaga hindi, baby palang hindi na, until now 3-years-old na, hindi parin nakababa,” she added

What is an undescended testicle?

Mayo Clinic described undescended testes or cryptorchidism as “a testicle that hasn’t moved into its proper position in the bag of skin hanging below the penis (scrotum) before birth.”

The medical website further explained that usually, only one testicle is affected by this condition. However, 10% of cases suffer from both undescended testicles.

To relocate the testicles into the scrotum, patients with this condition had to undergo Undescended Testicle (Orchiopexy) Repair Surgery.

Mavi’s Operation

On Saturday, Mar. 12, Mavi underwent a 3-hour operation at St. Luke’s Medical Center at Bonifacio Global City.

Before going to the operating room, Junnie and Vien shared their thoughts as it was the first time that their firstborn son would have to go through surgery.

“Naiyak nga ako kanina nung nagmamakaawa sya eh! Kaso kailangan talaga,” Junnie Boy said.

“Hindi lang nila ako nakikita kasi naka-mask ako, pero iyak ako ng iyak paglabas palang dito sa room,” Vien shared.

“Imagine mo ihahatid mo yung anak mo sa operating room, makikita mo yung mga aparatos, makikita mo yung itsura nya.”

By God’s grace, Mavi’s operation was a success, and they just have to watch out for some post-surgery care.

Vien and Junnie also expressed gratitude to all family, friends, and supporters who prayed for the successful operation of Mavi.

As a reward for his bravery, the relieved parents gave Mavi brand new toys, which he immediately played with.
