Angel by VIYLine Cosmetics: Ang kaabang abang na Pagsasanib Pwersa ng Dalawang Diyosa, Viy Cortez at Angelica Jane Yap

Two divine beauties are indeed better than one, just like this much-awaited dream collaboration of two of the most sought-after vloggers in the Philippines.  

Earlier this week, VIYLine Cosmetics revealed its newest partnership with the one and only, Angelica Jane Yap. The 27-year-old influencer is the first social media personality to have a full makeup collection with the cosmetics line founded by Viy Cortez. 

In an exclusive interview with VIYLine Media Group (VMG), the internet’s Angel gave us deets on how this collaboration came to life. 

Friendship with Viy

Viy Cortez and Angelica Jane Yap’s friendship goes back a few years. According to Angelica, she initially started as a fan of Viy and Cong TV’s vlogs. Their friendship began when Angelica initiated a video collaboration with Viy. 

“Kinapalan ko talaga yung fes (face) ko! Nag-message ako sa Instagram, sabi ko ‘Viy, nakikipag collab ka ba?’” Angelical recalled.

“Tapos si bakla naman agad-agad nag-reply, sabi nya ‘Oo, nakikipag collab ako,’” she added. 

But instead of jumping into filming a vlog together, the ladies decided to get to know each other first to get comfortable with each other. 

Since then, the two have only created a single video collaboration called “Pause Challenge,” posted on Viy Cortez’s YouTube channel. 

According to Angel, they only created one collab video because they have developed a deeper friendship and have learned to value each other’s time behind the camera.

Two years in the making

Meanwhile, Angelica revealed to VMG that it took them about two years to finally make this dream collaboration happen. 

“To be honest, two years in the making. So talaga pinerfect namin.”

“I remember telling her na pangarap ko rin yan, yung magkaroon ako ng sarili kong makeup collection. Kasi mahilig din ako mag makeup.”

Viy and Angelica’s first business partnership happened in 2020. It was for the limited edition VIYLine x Vloggers Lip and Cheek Tints. The shade was named after the alias of Angelica and her boyfriend Flow G, called “Team Ebs.”

Other content creators such as Jai Asuncion, Agassi Ching (JaiGa), and Krissy Achino (Chino Liu) were also part of the VIYLine x Vloggers collection. 

“Ang saya nun kasi ang daming naka-gusto dun sa tint kasi nga ginagamit ko din sya, tapos my type of shade talaga sya,” Angelica shared.

“Kaso nabitin ako sa isa!” Hence, the Angel by VIYLine Cosmetics collection, which will officially launch on March 20, 2022. 

After the success of the VIYLine x Vloggers lip tint, Viy offered Angelica to create her collection for VIYLine Cosmetics. 

“Binigyan niya ako ng opportunity na ako ang mag-isip ng gusto kong packaging, anong itsura nya, anong formulation and everything. So akin na akin talaga yung mga ideas.”

“Siya yung dahilan kung bakit naging possible yung mga hindi ko naman kayang gawin before. Para syang fairy godmother sa’kin,” she added.

Proud family and friends

When asked how her family and friends reacted to her collaboration with VIYLine Cosmetics, Angel proudly shared how happy they were for her. 

Meanwhile, the vlogger revealed that Flow G, whom she fondly calls Archie or Mahal, only realized that the collaboration was a big deal after seeing the outcome of the campaign photo shoot. 

“Eh di eto na, nakita nya yung photoshoot and everything, yung itsura ng mga makeup. Naloka sya!”

“Sabi nya ‘Oh my God, parang ang big deal pala nyan!’ So parang sabi ko, ‘Oo nga, big deal nga talaga to!”
