Travel Hacks: Traveling With Kids 101 With Mommy Vien Iligan-Velasquez

For the first time, the entire gang of Team Payaman went on an out-of-the-country vacation, and this includes not only the main content creators but also their kids.

As the group went on a 2-week Japan escapade, vlogger and mother-of-two Vien Iligan-Velasquez shared some tips on how to survive traveling with kids.

Vien and her husband, Junnie Boy, share two kids, namely Von Maverick, a.k.a Mavi, five years old, and Alona Viela, who is turning one in December.

Checkout some of Mommy Vien’s travel hacks when traveling with two kids:

Buy weather-appropriate clothes

Since Team Payaman visited Japan during the autumn season, Vien Iligan-Velasquez made sure they had Instagram-worthy OOTDs for the rest of the trip.

But aside from having picture-perfect outfits, Mommy Vien made sure her kids’ clothes were not only stylish but comfortable for the cozy Japanese weather.

“Napaghandaan naman namin kasi sabi samin Autumn nga so kailangan naka-panlamig kami. So ready naman kami, lalo yung mga bata,” Vien shared.

“Yung mga outfit ng mga anak ko, sa Shein ko yun binili lahat, lahat ng panlamig nila. So hindi ako nagsisi na binili ko dahil yun po ay gamit na gamit,” she added.

Ditch the stroller

While bringing a stroller or wagon during a trip is a must when you have kids, Mommy Vien realized that there are places where you should ditch the stroller, and it’s okay.

“Dito sa place na ‘to bawal yung stollers kasi madaming hagdan, so carrier lang kami [kay Viela], and si Mavs maglalakad siya, wala siyang choice.”

Take more photos

Selfie or didn’t happen. Mommy Vien did not let any opportunity pass to take Instagram-worthy photos with her kids, especially in places with stunning views.

After all, Mavi and Viela are still young, so they will surely have a fun time looking back at those photos when they eventually grow up.

Give them enough rest

Touring one place to another could also be tiring for kids. If you are privileged enough to bring other relatives or nannies during the trip, you can let them skip some itineraries and simply rest to allow them to regain their energy as well.

“Kumbaga puyat na siya kagabi tapos mapupuyat na naman siya ngayon. Kaya sabi na lang ni Nanay maiwan na lang sila at bilhan na lang sila ng pagkain.”
